“Surely, wisdom is given to all living things, and the tiniest of creatures are teachers of kings.” This ancient nursery rhyme captures the magic of nature, and this episode, which is about the invertebrates of the world. Invertebrates are animals that lack a spinal column, or, more familiarly, animals that have no backbone.
Invertebrates don’t have an internal skeleton made of bone. Some have a fluid-filled, hydrostatic skeleton and some have a hard outer shell. All animals – expect fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds and mammals – belong to the spineless kingdom of invertebrates. They are, in fact, more than 95 percent of all animal species in the world.
