This belly dance workshop with Gillian Cofsky is a quick introduction to several different styles and varieties of shimmies done in bellydance, and some creative ways to layer them with arms and other movements. The shimmy can often be recognized as the 'signature move' of bellydance, and the rapid, high energy nature of the movements offer a fun cardio experience! Many of the shimmies in this workshop take lots of time, practice, and dedication to master. Be gentle with yourself if you don't get it right away, or even after a few tries, and most importantly, have fun! Not recommended for pregnant women due to the downward pressure applied on the uterus during shimmying movements in the hips.
