Earth Report looks for the bathroom in Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, in 2002, more than 60,000 people were estimated to have died from diarrhea or related diseases. Of the children who die each year, half die from poor sanitation or hygiene. The government wants to give everyone a toilet in a country where only a third of its 77 million people have access to sanitation. From garbage dumps in the center of Addis Ababa to rural orchards across the rift valley, Earth Report investigates whether the government’s universal access plan is working.
