Even by Russian standards Kamchatka is remote. As a frozen wonderland, it is still one of the last unexplored places on earth. It is one of the most volcanic lands in the world with over 200 volcanoes within a California sized peninsula.
To reach all of his destinations in this frozen wonderland, David Adams will take all manner of transport, from dog sleds to old soviet technology. Along the way he visits indigenous people whose cultures were on the brink of ruin with the Soviet Union. With the Soviet state gone, the native people, and their gods are returning to their old ways.
