Fusion, Transport, Plants

S1:Ep2425 mins2008

More than a decade has passed since permanent crews took up residence on the International Space Station. We meet Frank de Winne, of Belgium, who became the first commander of the station who was not from Russia or the U.S. Singapore is home to a number of companies developing low-emissions vehicles. One of these is the Eco Car, powered by a 1.2 kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell. Another innovation is plug-in electric scooters from Germany. Also thinking about the environment, the Netherlands is testing new special greenhouses in a bid to lower their carbon emissions. Chinese scientists are working on controlling nuclear fusion, the energy source of the sun. Finally, we visit some French cooperage firms where oak barrels are made for aging wine.
