How can we develop our hearts, rather than only our hands and heads? When Kiran Bedi, Ph.D., made it to the top of her field in the police force, she was appointed the first woman head of a male prison. The prison had hellish conditions and so she made the determination to fix it. She made a fixed schedule to give the prisoners a healthier body clock and to make sure they had time to sleep, study, do yoga, pray, serve each other, clean, eat, and do community service. The bottom line was humanism.
