Interview with Dr. Jean Houston — Part 2

23 mins

With the changing world brought by the internet and world-wide-web, Houston explains how this creates a virtual reality and how it influences our identities. Houston has been involved in internet-like activities since 1979. She explores the dynamic of chat rooms accompanied with chat names. She gives the example that she used to pretend to be a 15-year-old boy playing Dungeons and Dragons with other young boys. She says that we need to take the model of the internet and apply it to our spiritual lives. We need to be able to download the cosmos. We are flooded with information available to us online, which is overwhelming at first, but after awhile, we become more discerning as we find our paths and values. Children are growing up with extended informational sensibility and Houston is optimistic about the future.
