Hidden World with David Gasman

N'goron'goro (Tanzania)

1996Ep448 mins

On this overcrowded planet there are still a few places where it is still possible to experience a natural and unspoiled environment. In northern Tanzania, neighbouring the Serengeti national park is East Africa's most magnificent reserve, the volcanic crater called N’goron’goro.

Eight million years ago, after Africa was split by the Great Rift of the earth's plates, a violently active volcano at N’goron’goro that was on the rift line blew apart. Its cone disappeared leaving the world’s widest intact caldera, a giant ring that marks the crater wall.
