Robin Thesta, 12, leaves his family’s small farm and walks to Pokhara, Nepal’s second-largest city and, as the stepping-off point for some 50 different Himalayan climbing and trekking, its most popular tourism center. There, he tries to find work as a porter.

We follow Robin on a six-day trek, where he earns about $20 for carrying a 65-pound basket, sometimes struggling to keep up with the older porters. Even with his earnings, the family can barely afford the basic needs, and Robin hopes someday he can become a lead porter and get his family and himself out from their poverty.
