Suppression of Falun Gong with Mike Chen
Can a spiritual practice be threatening to a powerful government? Throughout his life, signs pointed the way for Mike Chen to dive into traditional Qi Gong practice. All along the way, he resisted, until it became obvious that the religious and philosophical movement of Falun Gong was to become an integral part of his life. This has given him an inside view into the extent the Chinese government will go to suppress Falun Gong and its followers, including false flags, internet trolls, and the human rights violations of its practitioners. The practice was initially supported by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but by the mid-to-late 1990s, the government increasingly viewed Falun Gong as an evil cult and threat to China. It shares some of the integral Buddhist philosophies and principles that are a part of this Asian practice. Falun Gong has helped many, including Chinese people, lead peaceful and enlightened spiritual lives.
