Truthfulness as Clear, Nonviolent Communication

How we communicate with others directly affects the health of our relationships. The practices of yoga help to clear our heart-mind and to foster truthfulness as bare, honest communication. Satya, or truthfulness, practiced alongside ahimsa, or nonviolence, gives us nonviolent communication. Your thoughts, your words and your actions are helpful and productive, not hurtful and detrimental. And your communication is clear.

Our field of consciousness – known as the citta – is made up of both the heart, which expresses emotions and feelings, and the mind, which involves thinking and deciding. It’s important that our citta remains clear. So satya, as truthfulness, as clear, honest communication, will improve your life immensely by reducing misunderstandings and miscommunications, and truly cleansing and clarifying your heart-mind field of consciousness.
