Mini Yin Yoga Practice for the Hips

Available worldwide

This practice with Bernie Clark is great for people who are short of time and need a deep rest mentally, but also want to work to open the hips and lower back. It can also be done before a more active, energetic practice.

Note: People with sacroiliac issues (or sciatica) may wish to go very gently and not hold the poses so long. Anyone with bulging or herniated discs should skip the twists and forward folds.

Thank you Bernie - I adore how you teach - fun, present, forgiving, child like, and just a little bit irreverent & naughty. Fantastic.

Thank you Bernie! I did this class right after Cameron's Deep Stillness Yin and I'm in good shape for the rest of today! Love the generous hold times, even in a compact class like this. Always a pleasure. Namaste!

RubyDiamond, posted on December 26, 2014

Thank you Bernie. I like the challenging long holds on each position. I'm learning to endure through the poses. Namaste! ;-)

I've never heard of Bernie Clark before as I usually gravitate toward Rodney Yee, but this was a phenomenal introduction. Bernie reminded me to be and enjoy the silence and to listen and really feel my body. My hips feel at ease and this was great for my lower back which has been causing me problems. I'm happy to have "met" Bernie.

bernieclark, posted on November 30, 2014

Happy to have "met" you too! Hope your back continues to feel good.

Oh my GOSH what a relief!!! I hadn't realized how MUCH I needed some stillness until I did this video. I've had an extremely intense week with work and my mind had been REELING. Lying down on to my bolster in swan pose was just so awesome!! I was achey, very tight, my head hurts and I am WEARY but it was so just nice to just let go into all of that, to just let that be. I could have chilled out on my bolster all night. And it was also brilliant to remember that I can look after myself and provide mySELF with comfort through the postures and using props. That stillness is always there underneath. SO comforting :) :) I still have a headache, I'm still shattered, my chest is still quite tight, but that's ok. I'm ok with that. There's a softness and acceptance surrounding that now that wouldn't have been there had I not lit a candle, rolled out my mat, and took your class. THANK YOU.

Thank you Bernie. I did a more physical hath a yoga today but I was still craving a yin practice so I did this short one...great.

janetk_2, posted on November 6, 2013

@bernieclark, thank you! i will check out your suggestions. :)

bernieclark, posted on November 5, 2013

@janetk I often hear people say variations of "I am not flexible enough to do yoga" which is logically the same as saying "I am too dirty to have a shower"! We do yoga because we are not flexible enough. Does it make sense to say "I don't want to see a doctor, I am sick!" So - I congratulate you for trying yoga despite your inflexibility. Good choice. However, if this particular class doesn't work for you, there are many others on this site that can. You can search by "beginner" as a tag and try many of the more accessible classes, working your way up to the more challenging ones. Try Alex Rodrigues' class for beginners, for example: Or, if you want to stick with Yin Yoga, try the Wall Yin class: Good luck!

i'm have too much fat and am not flexible enough for this one. :( any suggestions for an alternative?

@DoniD Hi Donovan - how great that you can still do your yoga practice while in China. I am glad that you have made good friends with your "inner self". Cheers! Bernie

DoniD, posted on September 24, 2013

Dear Bernie,
I had a breakthrough which was followed by a huge change into negativity.. I was stuck in this for awhile and I'm becoming overcome with joy as I practice your classes everyday so I can connect with my inner-self. Thank you for helping me to understand myself and the universe better. I appreciate you and everything you do! Again, thank you. Also I was given a gift as I am living in China now for one year and I started to practice "Yin". Life is great!

Thank you so much for this. I experienced such an emotional release during swan. . .intense but needed. I am learning just how powerful a practice Yin Yoga is- learning to stay with whatever is occurring and be aware, but not reactive. It's a beautiful thing :)
