The Ritman Library — Amsterdam

The Ritman Library — more formally known as the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica — is home to more than 23,000 books in the fields of alchemy, hermetica, cabala, magic, Rosicrucianism, mysticism, freemasonry, panosphy and much more.

Created by Joost Ritman in 1984 in the heart of Amsterdam, the library features many legendary first editions, rare books and manuscripts, such as the famous Fama Fraternitatis, Corpus Hermeticum, Tabula Smaragdina, Atalanta Fugiens. One can discover the incredible works of authors such as Basilius Valentinus, Paracelsus, Giordano Bruno, Robert Fludd, Baruch Spinoza, to name just a few. The Ritamn Library offers an extraordinary window on the spellbinding history of Western esotericism.
