Session 4: Cellular “Chips” and Epigenetic “Programming”

A “new” science reveals that the “skin” of the cell is a carbon-based computer chip and the cell’s nucleus is the equivalent of a hard drive storing gene programs. The “old” science perceives that gene programs are expressed as “read-only” information, a belief that genes control our lives. The “new” science recognizes that the programs in the nucleus represent “read-write” information, wherein our life experiences not only control our genes, but they can “rewrite” gene expression. Dr. Lipton’s presentation describes the revolutionary new science of Epigenetics, knowledge that takes us from being victims of our heredity to becoming masters of our biology.
