The Birth of Language

198654 mins

Language was the result of a long and complicated evolutionary process, a process that gave rise to a qualitatively new being, the human. Language expressed thought, something uniquely human. An increasing population faced with a decreasing supply of food forced the first people to raise their level of cooperation, and they began to have something to say. Together, they began to dominate animals that were stronger, larger and faster. These early humans began a journey that would have as its aim mastery over nature itself.
