More Details

How often do we carry the weight of anticipation onto our yoga mats? When you consciously release expectations, you open up space for genuine transformation and mindful acceptance.

In Season 1, Episode 2 of Everyday Yoga: Mandala, instructor Steph Schwartz guides you through a dynamic vinyasa yoga level 2 practice designed to help you shed mental attachments. This circular, mandala-themed sequence is inspired by Shiva, the deity of destruction and new beginnings, serving as a physical metaphor for letting go of expectations. By moving mindfully through 360 degrees of your mat, you can transition from rigid mental patterns into a state of fluid presence.

This vinyasa flow for letting go begins with a grounding seated chant of OM, optional Gyan mudra, and Shambhavi mudra to center your awareness. From there, you will warm up the body with deep shoulder, back, and leg openers in prone and supine positions before building into a continuous, flowing sequence of standing poses. It is an invitation to practice managing expectations through mindfulness, allowing each posture to unfold without judgment or attachment to the final outcome. Through this intentional movement, you learn to treat the mat as a testing ground for how you handle challenges in your daily life. As you flow through each quadrant of the mandala, you are encouraged to meet yourself exactly where you are, free from the pressure of achieving a perfect pose.

  • Mudra and Mantra Practice: Begin your session with a traditional OM chant, Gyan mudra, and Shambhavi mudra to focus your gaze and quiet the mind.
