Yoga is meant to unite you with something so much more than your ego or physical body. The spirituality you receive through yoga allows you to connect your true Self to Spirit. To be able to stop identifying with the material view of the world, to stop seeing spaces between yourself and others, is the true goal of yoga. Yes, your body is a temple, but there is so much more to you that is still undiscovered.
