Summer - A Posture Flow Opening to Light (June 2016)

Available worldwide

This vinyasa practice with Kate Potter welcomes summer with just the right amount of heat. The season suggest the warmth that keeps us limber and the laziness that comes with heat. This sequence helps us stay cool with our breath, and we use metaphors of water and sensuality as a key to patterning the brain to stay cool, we can really feeeeeel it.

Kate, you've done it again. Your expert guidance and your seamless, innovative flows speak to the mind and body. Your breathe body links are beautiful and purposeful. It was such a treat to hear Dirje's soulful cello during savasana. Perfect, as always.

Thanks for this practice Kate, it made me feel super alive and calm at the same time. Love the gradual sequencing of your flow and the short but efficient meditation at the end.

I've done this sequence twice and think it's great! It feels especially good deepening in Pelican pose to stay in the posture and breathe with the hip open. I love all your practices Kate! Namaste

I did not enjoy this routine at all. It was too repetitive. Additionally, some of the postures were new to me and the directions were insufficient without watching. If you watch you cannot do the posture. This is the second video of Kate Potter's that I have viewed. I do not think I will view another.

Thanks for letting us know. The great thing is there are so many options for you at Gaiam, and I am sure you will find lots there to choose from. My stye is certainly not for everyone. The repetitions are meant to sort you out on the flow between postures, but sometimes it is not such a bad thing to just watch the movement. However, style is a personal thing, and great you have choices.

I was always drawn to Tai chi because of the seamless flow of movements, but now that I practice your yoga dance like sequences, I have fallen in love with YOGA!

katepotter, posted on June 23, 2016

That is wonderful that you get the feeling of soft buoyancy that Tai Chi also promotes. Thanks very much for your post. i really appreciate the feedback. Best to you. Kate

Thanks very much Katia. I a so glad you fell this way and hope your grounded calm stays with you all your days. If is why I practice too, that same need for wakeful yet calm presence. Stay close to the mat. Kate

Lovely little summer sequence! I feel very open and I was able to practice this outside in the sun as well! Namaste

katepotter, posted on June 22, 2016

Is that not the best? To practice outside when it is warm but not hot. Thanks for your post and keep up your connections to all things Yoga.

Best, Kate
