A Meditation on Metta

A meditation by Bernie Clark. The world seems full of boundaries: these are invisible lines that separate us from others, from nature. When we are closed off we may feel protected but we are also contracted, smaller than we could be, and alone. Growth is not possible when we are shrinking away from life. Expansion involves opening to our surroundings, to others; only then is growth possible and only then is wholeness available. To grow in this way requires seeing others the same way we see ourselves; to be as kind to others as we are to ourselves; to wish for others exactly what we wish for ourselves.
