Asteya is one of the five yamas, or yogic ethical restraints, and loosely translates as “non-stealing.” Asteya means so much more than simply not taking something from another without his or her permission. In the subtler dimensions of this teaching, asteya points us to what we are doing with our energy and time. Are we being a taker? Or are we contributing in valuable ways to any experience we find ourselves in? In the practices this week, we will explore asteya and how we can give more, rather than take. Today, we will focus on heart openers.
