A Unique Cosmic Conjunction is Happening This Month

A triple conjunction is headed our way between Mars, Uranus, and the north node in the constellation of Taurus — a conjunction we haven’t seen in nearly 170 years. This could mean that big changes are coming.

Between July 26 and August 1, we’ll see a three-party astrological conjunction, between Mars, Uranus, and the north node in the constellation of Taurus. Mars and Uranus unite every couple of years, but the north node does not. In fact, this conjunction in Taurus has not been seen since 1855.

So, what does this mean for you? Astrologer Mercedes Arnus Arraut breaks it all down.

“To understand this a lot better, let’s put it into order,” she said. “So, Mars is the energy activator, it’s our drive. Mars is an accelerator of events, whatever it touches it accelerates and turns it on. Then Uranus is the planet of awakening, it wakes you up with whatever experience is happening. Uranus is very unpredictable, so it acts without us having any control over it because it’s the rebel; it’s the energy of the new — the innovation. So, we don’t really know what’s going to happen with Uranus because it’s going to give you a new experience.”

“The north node is an astrological point that is found by an axis,” Arnus Arraut said. “This axis is found by the crossing of the orbit of the Moon around the Earth and the orbit of the Earth around the Sun. This axis is conformed by the north node and the south node. In this case, the north node is like a gateway, it’s like a door. So, by Mars and Uranus arriving at this astrological point, that acts like a door, and in Vedic astrology is known as the ‘head of the dragon’ hungry for knowledge and experiences. What we can see is that we’re attracting experiences in our life that come in the form of accelerated events, that bring awakening into our lives.”

How does the energy of Taurus play into this conjunction?

“Taurus is the energy of life, animals, Earth, finances, abundance, wealth, and it’s teaching us we can all be wealthy if we learn to stay present, grounded, and give value to what we have in order to live in this life,” she said “So, if we value our life and we feel like we’re valuing the planet, all situations will guide us into experiencing a lot more fun, a lot more pleasure, so that we learn to enjoy ourselves. It can be very exciting and everything that’s happening is so that we learn to give value to our own life on this planet.”

We may start feeling this energy as early as July 5. How should we be prepared for this potentially destabilizing push?

“It would be good for us to know that people are going to be acting very impulsive, erratic, not-themselves; bear it in mind so that you don’t take it personally,” Arraut said. “Whatever happens, we’re all going through crazy shifts and energy activations. Life is taking us to change, learn new things, and do things we’ve never done before. It can be very scary and fearful. Events like that, what it does is bring people closer together because there are greater things happening outside. It creates a sense of community and a sense of helping each other out to make a better world and create a better planet.

How do we take advantage of the energy at this time?

“This is like an event accelerator for everything happening on our planet. So, to take advantage of it, I’d say it’s a very good time to bring a new reality into your life, to feel like you’re evolving, feel like your business is growing like your family is expanding, that you’re learning a lot about yourself and your current reality,” Arnus Arraut said.

“You’re expanding into a world that you didn’t know you were going to be expanding into. There is a sense of healing in the world, so medical advances and new technology that is going to guide us into, really, a new way of living a lot more consciously.

Welcome to the 2019 Earth Pig Year

On February 5, we leave the Earth Dog and enter the 2019 year of the Earth Pig, closing a major 60-year cycle in the Chinese calendar — it takes 60 years to roll through every animal sign and element in both yin and yang aspects. 2019 brings us Ji Hai, the Yin Earth Pig. The last Ji (yin earth) Hai (pig) was 1959, so those born in that year are celebrating their 60th birthdays.

Characteristics of the altruistic Pig are optimism, gentleness, kindness, and honesty. The Chinese believe that the barnyard pig’s temperament is much like humans, as pigs enjoy listening to music, and are highly intelligent. Zodiac Pigs also enjoy luxury, comfort, and good food.

Ten Heavenly Stems, Twelve Earthly Branches

Ten heavenly stems and twelve earthly branches, in combination with the 12 animals of  the Chinese zodiac, determine the qualities of a given year. The heavenly stems are derived from the elements of the Chinese quinary, or five-element system. Each element has a “yin” and “yang”  aspect — passive and active — that make up the ten heavenly stems. For example, yin water (gui water) is represented by gentle rain, clouds, mist, dew, fog, and small streams and rivulets. Yang water (ren water) is lakes, oceans, and rivers. Yang water is in continual motion. The 12 animals are the earthly branches.

In 2019, the yin earth element (think of nurturing garden soil — gentle, maternal, supportive) combines with the pig or boar, associated with water; yin earth over water. While earth over water would normally be conflicted, the yin aspect of earth softens the relationship, bringing more harmony. That said, this is still an unstable combination (earth over water), so harmony is tenuous and delicate. The Pig’s water below can break through the flimsy yin earth above.

Some experts believe that the combination of fragile, yin earth over water could bring earthquakes, landslides, flooding — even sinkholes. The last time this heavenly stem (yin earth) and earthly branch (pig) met was 1959, when an historic earthquake (7.2)  in Yellowstone Park permanently altered the regional landscape. A 7.9 earthquake in Kamchatka, Russia devastated that region, and the Malpasset Dam in Southern France collapsed. Taiwan and New Zealand had major 7.2 and 7.3 quakes. Chinese astrologers would suggest keeping your seatbelts fastened if you live in earthquake-prone zones.
