Ashwagandha is considered as one of the most important adaptogens in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. It is the 'ginseng of Ayurveda', and has been used to improve physical energy and athletic ability, increase immunity to colds and infections, and increase sexual capacity and fertility.

Astragalus is another one of the most popular herbs used in the Orient; the Chinese name for astragalus is Huang Ch'i. Astragalus is regarded as a potent tonic for increasing energy levels and stimulating the immune system. This is a tonic producing warm energy and specifically tonifying for the lungs, spleen, and triple warmer meridians.

Banana Flakes from the Longevity Warehouse are sources from the sweet fruit of sun-ripened Ecuadorian red bananas. Red bananas are low fat and sodium free. They are also a good source of fiber and potassium, and a great source of vitamin C and B6. They are cholesterol free.

Serves: 10-15 balls


Ingredients

(use organic ingredients where possible)

  • ½ cup almonds
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp banana flakes
  • 1 tsp ashwagandha
  • 1 tsp astragalus
  • 1 tsp mucuna pruriens
  • ½ tsp licorice powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 date
  • 2 tbsp raw cacao nibs (mix separately)

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a high-performance blender, except the cacao nibs.
  2. Process until smooth but not oily.
  3. Mix in the cacao nibs by hand. Roll into balls or spread into a small pan, like fudge.
  4. Chill to set. Eat and enjoy!
