Each year, astrologers, numerologists and psychics peer into the coming year with great gusto, bestowing clients with far-reaching predictions and a blanket of optimism. Rarely, however, do these predictions live up to our expectations. Unforeseen challenges—conveniently glossed over in the seer’s starry idealism—inevitably occur.
I prefer to take a more realistic approach when looking forward to 2016. What I offer is a well-woven realm of possibility, empowering us to proclaim and ignite our collective energies to affect the planetary change we desire in 2016.
This Year of the Monkey promises to be one that will truly change the face of humanity.
The Big Picture
This is the year of the illumination of mankind. Not because the hand of God comes down to rescue us, but because this year sincerely offers us the ability to rise up, to transform and ascend the limitations placed upon us. In 2016, we recognize our infinite power to affect and co-create reality, and we can alter the projection of humanity on this planet; no more greed, no more elitism. Now, a bold, pervasive love and the desire for the well-being of Earth’s inhabitants is ours to bring forth.
Year of the Fire Monkey
In Chinese astrology, each year has its own animal and ruling element. With Chinese New Year in February, the year of the Fire Monkey is upon us. Monkey is cunning, playful and ambitious. His lesson is in humility but he can make his fortune overnight with luck and charisma on his side.
In his natural element of metal, the monkey offers a masculine guiding energy—that of a loving father, one who believes in us, champions us and through his love, we learn our value and worth. Koko the gorilla is an excellent example of an elevated monkey working well with this new way. His messages on how we could care for the Earth are a potent illustration of the enlightened Metal Monkey in action.
The element of metal is further equated with gold. Alchemically speaking, it’s this gold which signifies the most esteemed and highest place of completion.
Fire, however, is where we find Monkey in 2016. The flames of transformation are certain to appear. If we take the natural metal and give it flame, we see an undeniable alchemical reaction—a transmutation! The Golden Monkey arises in its truest and holiest element. This might even look like the ascension of the monkeys, signifying the enlightenment of humanity. The space where the Golden Monkey meets flame allows the most noble appearance of Monkey ushering in a year of great possibility.
This monkey blessing will certainly give a boost to the metal (masculine), allowing a gentle transference of power, for they recognize their meaning isn’t in material pursuits but in the spiritual. Metal is the energy of God in form. The breath that animates life is also a metal energy. If our men can find this inner shift—from physical to spiritual—it will do much to support the healing of our planet.
We’re entering a 9 year, as well (2+0+1+6=9). Nines are huge for completion, closing out what no longer serves us, and shedding the limitations we believed binded us. When a 9 year occurs personally, it’s a sign of massive transformation, walking away from anything which denies our innate divine energies, creating space for new life to be birthed.
When applied to the calendar year, the 9 will affect us all at collective, far-reaching levels!
As Glynis McCants explains on the 8 year, it was a year of transparency, walking away and reassessing what doesn’t quite add up. We witnessed this in our disclosure efforts, the Isis energies, and in government and banking shake-ups. People are asking questions. The masses are no longer afraid to question authority. And our tipping of the scales is only starting.
With the momentum of the 8, we enter 9 boldly, moving into spaces of giving, selfless service and a complete rejection of what destroys us. At a global scale, we’re in perfect harmony to create great change as we’re supported by universal and cosmic energies who’ve been heralding this time. We move toward transformation and away from the personal, selfish motives. We seek communal action, giving our energies to a bigger dream.
A humanitarian energy which values the dignity of all, honors life and the well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants, has been more evident through social media as the world grows more intimately connected. Any massive changes will certainly be felt, but will be wondrously supported this year.
Add to this momentum the U.S. presidential elections. Over the presidential terms, many of us have grown leery of the government and its leaders. The upcoming elections afford us an opportunity to reclaim our civic power.
Yes, we are jaded, but we must see this as an opportunity to affect great change. In a recent podcast on the Duncan Trussel Family Hour, Aubrey Marcus reminded us that the elite are cowards who only fear the loss of power. When the people have enough consensus to reclaim our collective power, the elite quickly jump to follow—in an effort to “lead us”—thereby keeping their coveted positions of authority!
It’s time to be heard; not just in an election year but year in, year out. Speak your truth, question what feels insincere, and be fearless in your ability to let go of what falsely binds you.
A Return to Love
Blessed with this completion energy and blessed with this divine ignition of the monkeys, change is certain. It doesn’t mean to be naïve; there will be challenges, surprises and triumphs. It means we have the fire—the newfound illumination—to support us in these next pieces. Can we see through the agendas? Can the truth be ignited? Can humanity’s infinite potential be restored?
We’re learning more and more about our inherent power. It’s time to rise in triumphant ascent!
