Biofeedback and Somatics (Eleanor Criswell Hanna)

Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove
S1:Ep7224 mins2000Guest: Eleanor Criswell Hanna

Host Jeffrey Mishlove discusses Somatics and Biofeedback with Eleanor Criswell Hanna, co-founder of The Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training.

Eleanor explains how biofeedback can be used as to explore consciousness, that our bodies engage in various forms of biofeedback all the time, and while much of the feedback is below our level of awareness, it is very important.

She says that by bringing body functions to a perceivable level one can learn to control them consciously, slowing one's heartbeat for example in an anxiety-filled situation. Hanna explains that the Somatic approach to Biofeedback differs from other Biofeedback approaches in that it brings about more of a qualitative personal experience.
